About Scott Silver
In 1997 Scott went to work for a group of senior tax and real estate attorneys who ran Century Pacific Housing, an owner of and investor in over 250 properties containing over 10,000 units throughout the United States and sponsor of the first public fund dedicated to investment in properties qualifying for the Federal Low Income Housing Tax Credit (LIHTC). For more than two years, Scott worked on CMBS loan refinancings of matured HUD loans, dispositions of properties, HUD, LIHTC program and NASD compliance, an affiliated property management firm sale, litigation oversight and entity maintenance for 81 limited partnerships with over 4,500 individual and corporate investors.
In 1999 he joined the Los Angeles office of Proskauer Rose LLP as the sole west coast real estate associate of an international law firm with over 600 attorneys. His practice focused on real estate and corporate transactions representing clients in closing over one billion dollars in equity and debt for real estate transactions, in California and throughout the United States, primarily in the area of affordable housing finance and CMBS borrowings.
In 2002 Scott joined Eagle Group as co-owner and headed up legal affairs and property management for what would become a fast growing investment firm, putting $90M to work in the acquisition of eighteen properties of approx. $300M in value consisting of 1.85M sq. ft. of retail, industrial and office properties in Los Angeles, Las Vegas and Dallas. During this period Eagle sold over one-third of the acquired properties with a resulting average 44% internal rate of return to investors.
In January 2009, Scott opened a law practice, Silver Law Offices Inc., to represent clients in real estate transactions. He represents these clients in their capacities as owners, sellers, buyers, borrowers, tenants and landlords in all areas of real estate law with a special emphasis on acquisitions, dispositions, finance and leasing. His experience includes the negotiation and preparation of purchase and sale agreements, leases and loan agreements and all documentation associated with real estate transactions. Scott's expertise in managing risk by undertaking extremely thorough due diligence investigations are highly valued by his clients.
Scott serves on the Executive Board of Directors of The Guardians/Jewish Home for the Aging, the Executive Board of Menorah Housing Foundation, the United Jewish Federation’s Real Estate Council, as organizer of its Young Leadership Development Institute. Scott has provided pro bono legal work to The Guardians and Menorah Housing, and to The Los Angeles Leadership Academy, a charter school established in 2002, for their site lease in a historic Mid-Wilshire church. Scott enjoys tennis, restoring his 1976 Cadillac Eldorado, spending time with his family and being the family photo/video archivist.
